Unbelievable.

Earlier Wednesday, President Obama temporarily interrupted his bashing of Republicans and their economic policies to remind an audience in Elkhart, Ind., that —ahem — “we” need to stop pitting working Americans against each other.

Could the divider in chief be any less self-aware? The one-time presidential candidate who urged supporters to confront their neighbors and “argue with them, get in their faces” later on told unbiased journalist Gwen “Take That, Bibi” Ifill at a town hall event that he never made a big fuss about transgender bathroom choice.

Did we hear that correctly? He never made transgender bathroom (and locker room) choice an issue?

That’s right … isn’t this the same president whose attorney general in May issued a directive to every public school in the nation regarding access to restrooms and locker rooms based on one’s gender identity — while reminding them that their federal funding could be in jeopardy if they didn’t comply?

No, that wasn’t a big deal. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest even clarified that the decree was merely “guidance” and not a threat to withhold funding — despite the explicit reminder that federal funding was conditional based on adherence to anti-discrimination laws:

As a condition of receiving Federal funds, a school agrees that it will not exclude, separate, deny benefits to, or otherwise treat differently on the basis of sex any person in its educational programs or activities unless expressly authorized to do so under Title IX or its implementing regulations.

If he did step into the whole transgender bathroom kerfuffle, it was only out of kindness.
