One notable tweeter called this week’s statements of mutual admiration between GOP candidate Donald Trump and Russian president Vladimir Putin a “love fest between the two most dangerous men on the planet.” Putin “endorsed” Trump by telling reporters he was “a really brilliant and talented person,” while Trump responded by saying it was a “great honor to be so nicely complimented by a man so highly respected within his own country and beyond.”
Ohio Gov. John Kasich saw the exchange as a great opportunity to troll Trump and had his campaign whip together a fake website promoting the Trump/Putin 2016 ticket and the slogan, “Make Tyranny Great Again.”

Some found the effort clever, while others smelled desperation in the Kasich campaign.

@thehill No last ditch effort will help. Kasich and Rubio are done. All they will do is let the Trumpet blare while his numbers rise.

@thehill Kasich has a man crush on Trump and has the shirtless pic of Putin above his bed.
