Gov. Jeb Bush, winner of the No. 2 slot at Thursday night’s GOP primary debate, is certainly not ranked among the most conservative of the prospective candidates. Speaking today at the RedState Gathering in Atlanta, though, Bush won praise from a good deal of the audience, even when speaking on divisive topics like education standards.
Jeb gets heavily booed multiple times at #RSG15 for comments on illegal immigration

That’s one of the top tweets that pops up on Twitter in a search for Jeb Bush, but keep in mind that tweet’s from Thursday night’s debate watch party. Bush’s appearance at #RSG15 went much more smoothly.
Erickson praises Jeb as most conservative governor in the nation in Florida

Good one.
Jeb Bush — sharp, passionate, lively, and yes, well-received by RedState conservatives.
— Byron York (@ByronYork) August 8, 2015
Jeb Bush is performing well in this environment. Way better than in the debate. #RSG15
— Liz Mair (@LizMair) August 8, 2015
A very different, more lively Jeb came to #RSG15 than the jittery, tentative one who showed up at the debate.
— Molly Ball (@mollyesque) August 8, 2015
Jeb is energetic and confident at #RSG15. Getting a very good response.
— Matt Mackowiak (@MattMackowiak) August 8, 2015
Polite #RedState reception for @JebBush , but crowd reaction nowhere near decibel levels elicited by, say, @CarlyFiorina or @tedcruz.
— Celeste Katz Marston (@CelesteKatzNYC) August 8, 2015
True. But stronger response than I expected. https://t.co/7Wv9GABgPr

Huckabee, Cruz, now Jeb: GOP candidates are really bringing their A game to RedState today.
— Byron York (@ByronYork) August 8, 2015
Jeb on the debate: 'There's a candidate, a couple of candidates, complaining that their questions were too tough…'
— Byron York (@ByronYork) August 8, 2015
More Jeb: 'You think that's tough, how about dealing with Putin?'
— Byron York (@ByronYork) August 8, 2015
Jeb! says he's not going to go heavy on executive orders if elected. Good. Sick of expanding exec power. And GWB expanded a lot. #RSG15
— Liz Mair (@LizMair) August 8, 2015
Jeb, Rubio, and Perry are the only candidates speaking about specific immigration reforms as opposed to rhetorical base fluff. #RSG15

@KemberleeKaye @BradThor Yes they're supporting amnesty and ensuring a republican will never win the white house again

@KemberleeKaye @instapundit no one trusts Jeb. No one.

Not even on education?
Jeb! is doing a really good job arguing for higher education standards. Getting applause. Quite astonishing. #RSG15
— Liz Mair (@LizMair) August 8, 2015
That is surprising.
JEB was very passionate when he talked about education, but he was asked a Q about common core! Not once did he discuss common core #rsg15

Higher standards mean nothing when every textbook & test are common core aligned Jeb. #RSG15 #StopCommonCore https://t.co/gSpkaDDSie
