WNCN investigative reporter Jonathan Carlson is reporting that questionable use of campaign money could have been the motivation behind a stabbing that killed 29-year-old Jamie Hahn and wounded her husband, 27-year-old Nation Hahn. The couple was attacked in their home in Raleigh, N.C., Monday night, and Jamie Hahn’s family announced her death early Wednesday morning.
The suspect in the stabbing, Jonathan Broyhill, was the best man at the Hahns’ wedding, and all three were Democratic political strategists who had attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, according to WNCN. Jamie Hahn was a fundraiser who had worked on several campaigns, including Sen. John Edwards’ presidential campaign, and Broyhill reportedly worked as a strategist at Hahn’s firm.
Nation Hahn has continued to tweet today, and his Twitter feed is heartbreaking.
Cate Edwards is the daughter of John and Elizabeth Edwards.
