A new report from the New York Times suggests that nearly 70 percent of President Barack Obama’s 19 million Twitter followers are fake.
According to StatusPeople’s analysis, which examines Twitter relationships, nearly 13 million of Obama’s followers aren’t real. “Fake” followers can comprise those purchased by social marketing firms as well as spammers and those who joined Twitter but quickly dropped off the service.
Real tweeters had something to say about the 70 percent figure.
