MSNBC analyst Jonathan Alter believes he has the answer to the gun control problem: forcing legislators in Florida to take up stricter gun laws by boycotting the Sunshine State.
If college students really want to make a difference in getting Florida to change its gun laws, they will boycott Florida locales for spring break. Older tourists should do the same with their tourist dollars. That will get the legislature’s attention pronto.

Let’s see just how well that’d work.
OK college students….. Mr. Alter has thrown down the gauntlet… Y'all going to walk the walk or just talk the talk????

And what makes you think that the average college kid saw Alter’s “gauntlet?”
I'm pretty sure the kinds of kids that Spring break in FL/or other beach destinations aren't interested in influencing public policy.

You hit the nail on the head there. They’re too focused on getting drunk and having fun.
Are there any Spring Break states with reasonable gun laws?

Depends on what you call “reasonable.”
Always follow the money, coming or going. Just remember all the small businesses who survive on tourism.

Small businesses are the heart of America. They’re the ones who are going to be put out of business by this.
My family has been boycotting Florida since the shooting of Trayvon Martin. It was my teenager’s son idea and we all agreed.

Are you boycotting in his namesake or to get gun laws changed? Or just for the hell of it? Because there seems to be no rhyme or reason.

And he’s making the assumption that they’re going to cancel Spring Break traditions.
