Pete Buttigieg is probably one of the worst transportation secretaries in recent memory. Generally, people do not even know who the transportation secretary is, and the fact Buttigieg is talked about regularly is a testament to what a poor job he is doing.
Being transportation secretary, you would think he might talk about a recent train derailment that has caused severe environmental issues in some parts of Ohio. However, he chose to talk about how construction projects often have workers that might not reflect the community in which they are being built.
In other words: too many white people in construction jobs. Yes, this made-up problem seems much more important than dead fish in Ohio due to toxic chemicals from a train derailment. (that is sarcasm)
Buttigieg made no mention of the Ohio train derailment while speaking at a conference this morning but did find the time to say that there are too many white people who work construction. pic.twitter.com/q4WNcq10h9

Twitter found this all very laughable and dropped the hammer on his ignorance.
So many things wrong with this.
(1) Whites are underrepresented in construction, except…
(2) …for the unions, so he could go after them.
(3) Are we really complaining about the lack of diversity and the amount of privilege in *blue collar jobs* now?— AmishDude (@TheAmishDude) February 13, 2023
Buttigieg may not have realized it, but he is pointing fingers at the Democrat darlings known as unions. If their membership is not diverse enough why isn’t he taking it up with them?

Oh yes, Pete would much rather let other people handle things as he did when he was on paternity leave.
Diversity > Train derailment

What train derailment?
Buttigieg is a Carnival Barker. The job to him is only about clout, not about the job itself.
— Calvin╭ರ_⊙ (@TisMoreorLess) February 13, 2023
Sadly, that seems to be true. He seems to look at the job as a constant photo op to get him to his next position.
When asked about his acceptance of the transportation secretary position, I schitt you not Pete Buttigieg responded “I’ve always liked trains.”

HA! We bet he made the CHOO CHOOO noise too. 🙂
Omg he talks exactly like Kamala Harris. Says so many words but so little at the same time

We never noticed it before, but that is true. Buttigieg does not seem to have the same nervous laugh thing, so he might be slightly less annoying.
Since becoming DOT Secretary, Pete Buttigieg has broken the shipping industry, the airline industry and our supply chains. Congress had to step in to prevent a nationwide rail strike, because Pete was on vacation somewhere. Luckily, he's making our roads and bridges less racist.

Excellant job Mayor Pete!
Isn't amazing they're trying so hard to not talk about this? https://t.co/4owQ9P68gi

Honestly, this editor only heard about the Ohio derailment today and we are focused on the news a lot so it does seem very weird that is not being talked about 24/7 on every news network.
To be fair, "journalists " aren't asking
— pickledbeat (@pickledbeat1) February 13, 2023
That is one fair point for Buttigieg. He is not bringing it up, but nobody is asking him about it either.
Maybe pay attention to some real transportation issues and stop worrying about workers skin color Mayor Pete!
