You may have seen a few tweets from the White House pop up with a small fact-check bubble from Birdwatch below it lately. This feature has been around for a while, but apparently, not many people noticed it until recently. Sawyer Hackett, a podcaster and senior communications strategist for Bold Progressives took to Twitter to blame the new ‘fact-checks’ on Elon Musk and say they were mundane nuances. He then got a Birdwatch Fact-check himself and it was GLORIOUS!

Birdwatch has been around since Jan 2021, though I don’t think it was visible to anyone but people who signed up for it at first. Apparently now, the notes become visible if enough people rate them helpful. It’s members of the twitter community, not Twitter itself.

We were aware of Birdwatch before Musk took over, but we also admit we have seen them more recently. Honestly, we are just going to try and find them and rate them helpful (as we did with this one), even if it is not that helpful, just because watching the metal down of those getting checked is quite entertaining.

We agree! We have no idea what Musk has in store for Twitter, but watching the left meltdown every day so far has been quite entertaining.
