Home Depot Is the Latest Target of the Democratic Party's Bullying

How many times did we hear Democrats say 'no one is above the law' as they engaged in political persecutions of President Donald Trump and American conservatives? Far too many to count.

But like all the things Democrats say, they didn't really mean it. What they meant was—and remains—that no one is above their lawfare. As I have noticed (and surely you have noticed, too), Democrats have no qualms about demanding their supporters go out and do actual illegal things in the service of the 'Resist Trump' movement, like towing ICE vehicles.

It's what I like to call the 'Lord Farquaad' mentality. In 'Shrek,' the diminutive monarch seeks a proxy to go save Princess Fiona from the dragon-guarded tower. He tells the potential rescuers that 'some of you may die, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.'

In the same way, Democrats are fine with their supporters going to prison if it means they can feel like they're sticking it to President Trump.

The problem is that most people and businesses aren't willing to ruin their lives and livelihoods to help the Democrats score political points. And when those people or businesses don't bow to the Democratic Party, the oh-so-tolerant 'party of the working class' turns ugly, and quickly.

In California, Councilmember Ysabel Jurado is waging war on Home Depot for not vocally opposing ICE raids at its stores.

Here's more from Fox News:

A Los Angeles City Council member raged against Home Depot on Friday, accusing the hardware store chain of being 'complicit' with raids on illegal immigrants and vowing to oppose the opening of a new location.

'Take your orange aprons somewhere else. Home Depot has no place in Eagle Rock,' Councilmember Ysabel Jurado fumed on Instagram.

Home Depot is planning to open a new superstore in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Eagle Rock, according to documents filed with the LA city planning department. The project would demolish a defunct Macy’s department store in Eagle Rock Plaza to make way for the new Home Depot location.

Jurado claimed that the hardware store chain was 'complicit' with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids at their locations due to the company’s refusal to speak out against them. She cited an ICE raid that occurred at a Home Depot location in the LA town of Westlake on Thursday, and claimed it was the fourth such raid to occur at that location since June.

As Jonathan Turley noted, Ysabel Jurado has a job. She clearly doesn't care about the tens of thousands of Californians employed by Home Depot (while the exact numbers aren't available, Home Depot employs 500,000 people nationwide and about 12% of its stores are in California), and she doesn't care that Home Depot pays between $17.50 and $23.30 an hour to employee, which exceeds the state's mandated minimum wage of $16.50 an hour. Home Depot is also a decent place to work, with a 3.8 rating on Glassdoor (and over 54,000 reviews).

I thought Democrats wanted jobs with 'family supporting wages' and decent work environments.

Guess not.

Home Depot has an obligation to comply with federal law. The Trump administration has made it explicitly clear that those who obstruct or interfere with ICE and federal agencies trying to deport illegal immigrants will face consequences. There is no store manager, no corporate bigwig, who wants to risk prison time so Ysabel Jurado can virtue signal.

Additionally, Home Depot is reading the room. American voters chose President Trump and have consistently given him high approval ratings for his handling of illegal immigration. After years of the Biden-Harris administration's open-borders policies and the Democrats going to the mattresses for illegals (instead of Americans), the public is fed up. Siding with the illegal immigrants against ICE is a risk no sane corporation is willing to take. Ask Bud Light, Jaguar, and Cracker Barrel how well embracing the woke mob worked out for them.

Those facts don't matter to Democrats like Ysabel Jurado, of course. She instead prefers to show the world the Democrats learned nothing from their November electoral trouncing, their abysmal approval ratings, and the hemorrhaging of registered voters -- including in California. And she demands that places like Home Depot and the people they employ sacrifice their jobs and possibly their freedom so she can act morally superior to the rest of us.

The reality is Jurado, like the rest of her fellow Democrats, is a bully.

And Home Depot is right to ignore the fight she's trying to pick.
