There must be something in the water back in my home state of Wisconsin, because the state Democratic Parry has doubled down on some absolute insane policy platforms in the last two weeks: they're working to erase 'mother' and 'father' from state legislation, they want to give LGBTQ persons extralegal protections, and now they're bullying organizations into champion Pride Month:
EXCLUSIVE: Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers' Chief of Staff Maggie Gau as well as Democrat state legislators Mark Spreitzer and Francesca Hong threatened to pull funding from the Wisconsin Historical Society over its decision not to fly the pride flag above its headquarters in… pic.twitter.com/YFz564USbO

The entire post reads:
Spreitzer and Hong berated the Historical Society's executive director while Gau orchestrated a letter ostensibly from angry Society employees that was leaked to the media.
The Society decided not to fly the flag this year because, as a spokesperson said, its mission is history and "as a nonpartisan agency, the Society does not participate in advocacy outside of that mission."
The Society decided not to fly the flag this year because, as a spokesperson said, its mission is history and "as a nonpartisan agency, the Society does not participate in advocacy outside of that mission."
This was deemed unacceptable to Gau and the legislators, and they immediately launched an extreme pressure campaign to force the Society to relent and fly the pride flag. It thus far has not worked, even after Society employees wrote in their letter that the decision left them "fearful."
Ironically, the Wisconsin Historical Society doesn't own the flagpole outside its headquarters. It actually belongs to the University of Wisconsin-Madison ROTC.
Where do I begin to unravel this insanity?
We'll start with this: the Wisconsin Historical Society is correct. They're a non-partisan organization, and shouldn't have to advocate for any cause outside their mission of preserving and educating about Wisconsin history.
Republicans, ostensibly, study history too. And they don't want a pride flag waving in their faces.
But, for Democrats, acceptance is never enough.
You. Must. Approve.
And if you don't, they'll pull your funding.
The Wisconsin Historical Society is funded with public dollars, true, but also private donations. It's unlikely every private donor wishes to see a Pride flag on the property. So when the group is forced to fly a partisan flag and loses those private donations, Maggie Gau and her crew will just shrug. Because -- as always -- the Left caters to a small segment of society while alienating the majority stakeholders in a given business or group.
Remember the meltdowns the Left had -- and is having -- over Trump pulling funding from NPR and PBS? The Left claims this is a violation of their First Amendment rights and the act of a tyrant.
If it is when Trump does it, it is when Evers does it, too. Or, his Chief of Staff, that is.
Maggie Gau and her minions live in deep blue Madison, one of the few places where the majority support the insanity of the radical LGBTQ agenda. Outside of Dane County, the issue is 80-20 and not in the Democratic Party's favor. But Gau cannot imagine a world where people don't follow her ideology in lockstep, and that's why she seeks to punish an apolitical organization for daring not be prideful enough in the month of June.
It's also clear Maggie Gau has been the de facto governor of Wisconsin for a while, if not for Evers' entire tenure in office. We didn't elect her, but she's calling the shots -- including on defunding the Historical Society.
Undoubtedly, the Wisconsin Historical Society will cave to the demands of the bullying Dems, which is sad. But we must remember this: Tony Evers is up for reelection next year, so we can elect someone other than Maggie Gau to run this state.
