Sins of the Maher

Janet Van Ham/HBO via AP

Comedian Bill Maher committed the Left's unforgivable sin: he spent time with, and spoke positively about, President Donald Trump.

In an almost 13-minute monologue, Maher gave a thoughtful critique of his evening with the President and came to the conclusion that President Trump is a down-to-earth nice guy, a gracious host with a good sense of humor. He is not the unstable, crazed Hitler reincarnation the Left so desperately wants him to be.

This revelation from one of their own fractured the Left's version of reality. And for that, they unleashed attacks on Maher.

On one hand, I get it. If you spend your entire life thinking the sky is pink and someone tells you it's actually blue, it'll cause a seismic shift in your world.

On the other, it's your fault for believing the sky was pink in the first place.

Donald Trump is not the first Republican called LITERALLY HITLER by the Left, and he won't be the last.

In 2023, when Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appeared poised to leap into national office, former Republican congressman turned Leftist cable news contributor David Jolly told MSNBC DeSantis was the bigger threat. Here's what was reported in The Hill concerning Jolly's remarks:

'I say this with conviction,' former Republican congressman and current cable news analyst David Jolly declared this week on MSNBC. 'I think Ron DeSantis is far more dangerous than Donald Trump for a very specific reason.' Trump is merely 'transactional,' Jolly continued, whereas DeSantis is an actual 'cultural warrior' who wants to 'take us back 100 years and believes he can use the Constitution to do that.'

Speaking of eating your own.

But I digress.

We don't know who the Republican nominee will be in 2028. Could it be Vice President J.D. Vance? We don’t know. But three-and-a-half years is a lifetime in national politics and that could change a hundred times between now and the Iowa caucuses.

Regardless of who he, or she, is you can remember my following prediction: The 2028 Republican nominee will also be Hitler, and will be worse than Trump, and media will opine for the days of 'reasonable' Republicans like the current president. Who is literally Hitler. For the time being.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

The Democratic Party is rudderless right now. It has no leader, and those who speak loudest for the party read like a who's who of embarrassment. You've got Jasmine Crockett, who learned everything she needed to know about economics from the back of a cereal box; Cory Booker, who doesn't have proof of corruption but he'll know it when he sees it; Gretchen Whitmer, who recently played peek-a-boo in the Oval Office like the serious adult she is (not); Bernie Sanders, who went to swank Coachella to lament the fact we just don't tax the rich enough; and AOC, who thinks flying first class to scream about the oligarchy is a good look (maybe Senator Kennedy had a point about AOC and shampoo bottles).

Either way, there's a reason the Democratic Party's approval is at 21%

What Bill Maher understands, and guys like Keith Olbermann and Joe Walsh never will, is that if Democrats are to ever hold an office higher than dog catcher of Podunk, Flyover Country, they need to start comprehending why voters elected Donald Trump twice and why voters saw in him years ago Maher finally did during dinner at the White House.

That starts with realizing President Trump is not the monster they've portrayed him as all these years.

Attacking Bill Maher for telling the truth is a step in the opposite direction.
