BOOM! Jake Tapper stands by his Medicare for All fact check (Bernie Sanders hardest hit)

Last week, Jake Tapper did a fact-check of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders’ claims that a Koch-funded study found that Medicare for All would save Americans trillions of dollars.

Yesterday, State of the Union posted an “updated” version:

Here is our updated fact check: https://t.co/qc7ITKNJ7s

You can watch it here:

In case you missed it at the very end, here’s what the update was about:

Needless to say, Bernie Sanders still wasn’t happy:

I thank @jaketapper for admitting his “fact check” on Medicare for All was not factual and editing his video.

Sadly, Tapper's video on Medicare for All along with other “fact checks” is riddled with errors peddled by the Koch-funded Mercatus Center. Let's go through them: https://t.co/NHAOR6YNLG

Sadly for Sanders, Tapper’s not backing down:

While Sanders takes this opportunity to hammer the Mercatus study, a reminder that we never took a position on the study, or on Medicare-for-all.
We stated — as has every major fact checker — that he didn’t provide the full context of the study when saying it backs his argument. https://t.co/ZPkdxob3g0

Go through this, Bernie:

2/Politifact agreed that Sanders wasn’t providing the full context:https://t.co/YAH5z0kL7I

— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) August 20, 2018

3/The Washington Post said Sanders and Democrats were cherry-picking facts:https://t.co/YuGCUfsCjI

— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) August 20, 2018

4/ AP said: “Sen. Bernie Sanders is skimming over the facts”https://t.co/eR24ipzHuJ

— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) August 20, 2018

5/As did @CNNSOTU in our partnership with @factcheckdotorg https://t.co/jBQ8bJZ3YP

— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) August 20, 2018

6/ Not one of the fact checkers supported the Mercatus Center study nor did any of us oppose the Sanders plan Medicare-for-all. But we all maintain he’s using the study in a way that doesn’t provide the full context of the study.

Well, yeah. Naturally:

What happened to thorough investigative reporting. Sounds like cognitive dissonance to cover a fail.

You – and the Koch Brothers – lost this, and @MattBruenig and others won. And that is REALLY good news for the American people.#WavesFromAustralia

Sorry @jaketapper I'll take @SenSanders compassion, optimism and vision for the future over your reporting anyday

Jake, give it up. You are becoming a joke.

What can they say? They hate it when one of their unicorns turns out to be just another jackass.

Again, I applaud @jaketapper for his candor. He has been a straight shooter on this. https://t.co/QD4z52PQG5
