As Twitchy told you earlier, the New York Times is dealing with D.C.-based reporter Ali Watkins by transferring her to their New York City office, where she’ll be “closely supervised and have a senior mentor.” Not the worst punishment, considering that she carried on a romantic relationship with a source.
But the Atlantic’s Rosie Gray — a former BuzzFeed colleague of Watkins — thinks Watkins got a bad rap:
just can't get over how much it sucks that the NYT chose to participate in the shaming of @AliWatkins rather than focus on the real, pressing issues raised by the government's actions in this case. https://t.co/nPkTZjJevg

Yeah, nice try, Rosie … but no.
Almost!
Wait, writers having publicly undisclosed conflicts of interest is OK now? https://t.co/DQemjdOkUj

Obviously the government part must be addressed, but surely you can't think what she (and the men involved) did is OK.

She was sleeping with her sources. There’s a clear ethical (not to mention moral) issue here.

Aren't professional ethics and integrity a part of the journalists job?

We thought so. At least, they’re supposed to be. Though, to be fair, journalism ain’t what it used to be.

Ends justify the means. Just say it and be done with it. You've got omelets to make.

Yes poor Ali. Sleeping with people for info. So very ethical

Please stop slut-shaming the reporter who traded sex for career advancement.
— Cuffy (@CuffyMeh) July 3, 2018
The "shaming"?
She screwed a source (or two) for information to advance her career.
Are you flippin' kidding me here? She's spit in the face of ever hard working female journalist on the planet working her ass off for respect.
Get out of here with this BS.
