Byron York: Papadopoulos' sentence and release means more for Trump/Russia than Manafort, Cohen sentences

As you may know, George Papadopoulos was released from prison on Friday after serving 12 days of a 14-day sentence.

Also on Friday, prosecutors said former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen deserves substantial prison time for crimes he allegedly committed, despite his cooperation with Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel investigation.

Meanwhile, former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort is scheduled to be sentenced in March for working on behalf of pro-Russian politicians in Ukraine, predating his work as part of the Trump campaign.

Mueller released a filing on Friday accusing Manafort of lying to his investigators.

While many seem to be of the belief that the Manafort/Cohen developments are terrible news for Trump, Washington Examiner columnist and Fox News contributor Byron York says the sentence and subsequent release of Papadopoulos indicates that their heavy sentences are a result of their own activity, not necessarily the probe into the 2016 election.

Perhaps Friday’s filing is an indication that the Mueller’s probe is about to come to an end.
