Kimberley Strassel tells Merrick Garland why 'we have every right to be skeptical' of the DOJ/FBI

As we told you yesterday, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that he did sign off on the search warrant for former President Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago, shamed those who have been making anti-FBI comments and then left without taking questions (did he learn that from Biden?).

Garland’s remarks included this rebuke of anybody suggesting the DOJ or FBI might be acting out of political bias:

Third, let me address recent unfounded attacks on the professionalism of the FBI and Justice Department agents and prosecutors. I will not stand by silently when their integrity is unfairly attacked.

The men and women of the FBI and the Justice Department are dedicated, patriotic public servants.

Every day, they protect the American people from violent crime, terrorism, and other threats to their safety, while safeguarding our civil rights. They do so at great personal sacrifice and risk to themselves.

The Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel, before linking to a WSJ editorial board piece, gave AG Garland a few reasons as to why people might be skeptical:

Strassel also wrote on this topic in her own column:

And yet these people are shocked that people are skeptical of DOJ/FBI claims.

Trust in the media is incredibly low for the same reasons there’s widespread skepticism of the Justice Department and FBI.
