Reuters: Human rights groups like the ACLU and Amnesty International have 'raised concerns' about hate speech on Twitter

According to CNN+’s Brian Stelter, Twitter under Elon Musk’s leadership is going to be a wild party where there are no rules or restrictions, just total freedom. “Do you actually want to go to that party?” asked Stelter,  and the answer is yes, it sounds great. We’ve been assured by some Democrats that communities can police themselves better than the racist cops, so we’re going to assume Twitter’s users will police each other without some algorithm biased against conservatives.

As Twitchy reported, the NAACP issued a statement asking Musk not to allow “45” back on Twitter, which will become a petri dish for hate speech. As Reddit’s former CEO tweeted, the “free-speechers” “really just want to be able to use racist slurs.” Those damned free-speechers. For its part, Reuters checked in with some human rights groups for their feelings about Musk acquiring Twitter. Human Rights Watch, the ACLU, and Amnesty International are all very concerned.

Yes, the ACLU is concerned over less censorship. And the last we heard from Amnesty International was on Human Rights Day, when it tweeted that you have the right to life; Also, abortion is a human right.

Reuters reports:

Amnesty International said it was concerned about any potential decision that Twitter may take after Musk’s takeover to erode enforcement of the policies and mechanisms designed to moderate hate speech online.

“The last thing we need is a Twitter that willfully turns a blind eye to violent and abusive speech against users, particularly those most disproportionately impacted, including women, non-binary persons, and others,” Michael Kleinman, director of technology and human rights at Amnesty International USA, said on Monday.

Will the Babylon Bee get its account reinstated after it awarded Rachel Levine its “Man of the Year” award? That’s apparently violent and abusive.

Someone at Reuters thought they should reach out to “human rights groups” because Musk bought Twitter. Free speech apparently is no longer a human right.
