Somehow, it’s come to the point where a nominee for the Supreme Court is compelled to reveal in a national TV interview that he was a virgin until many years after college, and even then, sharks like celebrity lawyer Michael Avenatti called it an obvious lie. He mentioned intercourse, but what about oral sex, huh? He had to have done something, Avenatti insisted.
Of course, the hot takes were bound to follow, and like Avenatti, the Washington Post is carefully parsing Kavanaugh’s words in that Fox News interview, where he admitted to never having had sexual intercourse with anyone in high school or college. The Post insists Kavanaugh’s “virginity defense” doesn’t hold water, as groups like the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network define unwanted sexual touching as sexual assault.
Analysis: The virginity defense is a reminder of our ignorance about sexual violence https://t.co/zMd9VO7ItK

No it's not. It's a sign of the ignorance of the writer of the gang-rape question Kavanaugh was asked and to which he was responding. Pretty hard to take part in a gang rape and remain a virgin. https://t.co/YhqHyQmy1l

How could WaPo write this and not mention Avenatti 'gang rape' accusation? That's what question was about. TMI, certainly, but in response to specific question.

He was accused of participating in gang-rapes. Virginity is a solid defense.

He was responding to a claim he had engaged in gang rape. Virginity is a pretty good defense. https://t.co/u4BIWXpToP

No, Kavanaugh was responding to @MichaelAvenatti outrageous "gang rape" claims SPECIFICALLY. Being a virgin is a direct defense for THIS. But…I think y'all know that but are CHOOSING to mischaracterize. #ConfirmKavanaughNow https://t.co/ENFerIWmnT

I feel like when you’re accused of gang rape, it’s a perfectly fine defense https://t.co/DVa6eHLZsU

He was accused of gang rape. Don't you think that makes his virginity relevant? Do you really believe a man wants to talk about whether he was a virgin in college on national television?

Virginity is an absolute defense to an allegation of gang rape. Are these people seriously this blinded by their own partisanship? https://t.co/BJoGMjJMFN

"The virginity defense", really? I'm sorry but since when is an interview a court testimony. He was responding to the interviewers question.
And how can you say we're ignorant about sexual violence. You dont know us.
Lame.

It’s not particularly good analysis if you do not even bother to watch the interview you’re quoting. https://t.co/afcT8McypS

Yesterday I joked that Twitter today would claim:
"Serial rapists who are virgins are the worst serial rapists!"
Bang on cue, WaPo comes through. https://t.co/3bPsDiFuFy

Funny how you believe uncorroborated rape allegations but don't believe when virginity claims. This is what's called projecting. https://t.co/MyJ5sY05xe

There aren’t enough words to begin describing how wrong and shameful this article is. Grow up

Just imagine the outcry if a female was questioned about her sex life while trying to defend herself. Irrelevant line of questioning. I don’t care if he had sex every day. That’s not a crime. https://t.co/Cl0OWj0ovg

Guilty until proven innocent? Is this where we are now? No matter what side you are on, this is not the road to go down.
