We can all thank Ronan Farrow and The New Yorker for dragging out the toxic news cycle about Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and alleged sexual misconduct for at least another week. Farrow made the rounds of the morning cable shows telling how Kavanaugh allegedly exposed his penis to a woman at a college frat party and “caused her to touch it without her consent.”
Farrow’s back with an update that sounds worse for Kavanaugh than it really is, probably. It seems that two former classmates asked that their names be removed from a statement of support for Kavanaugh after The New Yorker story went public.
Update: 2 Kavanaugh classmates withdrew from a statement his lawyers issued disputing Ramirez’s claims. It is now signed by the 2 men whom Ramirez alleged had egged on Kavanaugh, the wife of the man she said told her to "kiss it,” and one other classmate: https://t.co/o8nTmjw2Vg pic.twitter.com/z6zPRBeR1r

If I understand it, they moved from "This never happened" to "I never saw this happen".

This letter testified to something that isn't really evidence — "We can say with confidence that if the incident Debbie alleges ever occurred, we would have seen or heard about it" — and so it's hard to read much into either the signing or the withdrawal. https://t.co/4cjEMDPuat

Yes, because they say, reasonably enough, that they can't take a definitive position on something they didn't witness. If only a key anti-Kavanaugh voice in The New Yorker story was as responsible https://t.co/GUGGuZ38Kq

Ronan wants you to think they now don't want to dispute Ramirez's account, but what's probably actually happening is they're getting the crap beat out of them by progressive co-workers and just want the harassment from the left to stop. https://t.co/cSgVddShtI

Farrow is still trying to dig his way out.
Nobody is saying they saw the event or knew about it.
Ronan is trying to find a way to declare victory on this despite clearly stepping in it. https://t.co/GXGv0ALWu4
