U.S. Senate hopeful Democrat James Talarico was at SXSW in Texas on Monday. He appeared on the laughably titled ‘Raging Moderates’ podcast, extolling the benefits of purple states despite the Democrats’ obvious mission to turn every state solid blue.
Here’s more. (READ)
Talarico: “I think the best color for Texas is purple. Because in a purple state, every politician is on their toes, right?"
"Every election is up for grabs. And that means people get to hold their elected leaders accountable."
Is James calling for CA, IL and NY to elect Republicans so they can turn purple? So the people can hold their elected leaders “accountable” and every election is up for grabs? After all, that’s the system he says works best.
Of course not.
This guy just says stuff that he thinks sounds “moderate” and “reasonable” while knowing media hacks like Tarlov here will eat it up and never ask him any real questions about this kind of rhetorical pablum.
Here’s Talarico talking to fellow Democrats Jessica Tarlov and Scott Galloway. (WATCH)

sadly the two interviewers fail to question him on anything

Of course, they’re on his team.
Posters say Talarico is trying to fool gullible voters with his phony ‘purple’s great’ bit.
Funny how “purple is healthy” only applies when Democrats think they can flip a red state. You never hear them cheering for competition in CA, NY, or IL. It’s almost like the principle isn’t the point — the power is.

No, silly! That is only for Red States!
— Mark DeBenon (@MarkDeBenon) March 17, 2026
When you are in a red state running as a progressive liberal, you need to lie and hope the low-information voters fall for it.

If Talarico is elected, he will be a 100% full-on far-leftist, ignoring the concerns of all non-Democrat voters.
Commenters say they are already exhausted by Talarico's fakeness.
this campaign is just getting underway and I’m already tired of this clown.
— Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) March 17, 2026
Indeed. He would make more sense in Maine, or Vermont, but…in Texas, it doesn’t make sense.
— ZENNY (@zenny_bets) March 17, 2026
He’d fit right in with the granola-munching vegans in those states.
Hearing Talarico, one would think he’d be calling out his fellow Democrats who are trying to silence Republican voices in other states permanently.
So, Talarico is opposed to Abigail Spanberger’s gerrymandering scheme, trying to turn a purple state blue, denying nearly 1/2 of the state a voice in state or federal government.

If he really believes then then he needs to spend 5 minutes condemning the excesses of the California and Virginia legislatures in detail.
— Martha Jenkins (@mistressyuna) March 17, 2026
If people didn’t learn from Virginia, then there is no helping this country. There is no such thing as a “moderate democrat”
— Brett (@Texan__Pride) March 18, 2026
A moderate Democrat? We’re more likely to stumble upon Bigfoot playing poker with Elvis Presley, Jimmy Hoffa, and Kurt Cobain in a forest than encounter an actual moderate Democrat. Talarico is no moderate.
