Many Democrats, especially the ones living in blue cities in blue states, are being left behind. More to the point, they refuse to budge and join the rest of us in 2025. Novelist Walter Kirn keenly observed this stuck-in-the-past phenomenon while recently reading The New York Times and The New Yorker.
Here’s his post on X. (READ)
Reading the NYT and The New Yorker, it's like Obama is still president. They are a full decade behind the culture.

2/2 *a full decade or two

So more liberals are retreating deeper into an echo chamber?

With so many Democrat-focused ‘news’ sources capsizing, it’s not surprising that readers are swimming to those still afloat.
Commenters say Democrat writers and readers are clinging to papers and magazines that remind them of when their party was on top. It’s a nostalgia bubble of sorts.
Yes, its the apex of their power. Like aging movie stars they bask in the bubble they create. With the current speed of information and ideas, a decade is like 15 years, especially for media and culture.

Listened to Mark Helprin interview of Glenn Kessler. Kessler obviously never had his views challenged nor ever even did some minimal introspection. Pathetic but frightening he had so much influence for so long

‘Newsrooms’ are some of the thickest bubbles, especially the ones on the coasts.
To them, the rest of us don’t even exist or matter. We’re still flyover country. Commenters remember when that attitude started.
Bubble Life.

Remembering the old Saul Steinman illustration of a NYers view of the Country.
(Oh man, I’m sorry I can’t find it atm. I’m sure you know which one I’m referring to)

Living in "flyover country" I remember it well.

To them, we exist solely to be looked down upon in more ways than one.
Commenters say the bubble has little to no chance of bursting. What was once created to keep the rest of the country out has become a mental and cultural prison for these elite Democrats and their 'news' sources.
I don’t see them coming out of this to be honest. That would require them to acknowledge that the culture has moved on from them and that what they have advocated for was rejected. They are simply not capable of that…

Hope and change one shotted the libs, they will always think it’s year zero of the thousand year woke reich

They continue to act as though they set the narrative and form public perception. Kind of pathetic, really.

They write for the world they wished they lived in

Most of all, they write for themselves and those who occupy the bubble. We can look in, but they refuse to look out.
