A Tow Trucker Stops to Help a Stranded Driver, Until This Sticker Made Him Drive Away

For tow truck driver Kenneth Shupe, it started out as a normal dispatch call to go pick up a woman stranded on the interstate in Asheville, North Carolina.

Shupe arrived at the scene and began to place towing cables on the vehicle until he realized that the back of the driver’s car was covered in pro-Bernie Sanders stickers.

Upon noticing the stickers, Shupe told the driver, Cass McWade, that she “was obviously a socialist” and suggested “that she call the government” for a tow.

“Every business dealing in recent history with a socialist-minded person I have not gotten paid,” Shupe told WHNS. “Every time I deal with these people I get ‘Berned’ with an ‘e’ not a ‘u.’”

“I respect their beliefs, and I hope they respect my views,” he said.

But not everyone is happy with Shupe’s actions.

The driver’s mother took to Facebook to voice her anger:

Despite talks of suing Shupe over discrimination, a local law office concluded that political affiliation is not a protected class:

“We may not like it and we may not agree with it, but I don’t believe any laws were broken,” Summer said. “As long as there is no contract between the driver and the tow truck company, then there is no legal obligation for the tow truck company to pick her up.”

What do you think? Did the tow truck driver take things too far?
