The current Pope Francis has done some things that have surprised and challenged many of the flock faithful to the Vatican, but no one can deny that this beautiful act of compassion and love to a man reportedly suffering from neurofibromatosis is a poignant example of what the love of Christ truly means.

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” – Matthew 25:40
Editor’s note: An earlier version of this post described the man pictured with the pope as suffering from boils. According to the Catholic News Agency, it is neurofibromatosis, not boils as the Washington Post reported. We have corrected the title and text of this post accordingly.
