Back in the early days of the American Civil Liberties Union, “civil liberties” actually meant something. And even if you didn’t necessarily agree with their particular position, you could respect their commitment to the cause.
Those were the days, weren’t they? But they’re not the days anymore.
No, these days, the only cause to which the ACLU is committed is wokeness. Wokeness is a destructive force, and thus, so is the ACLU. Case in point:
BREAKING: We filed an amicus brief today urging the Supreme Court to protect universities’ ability to consider race in college admissions.
Ending these considerations would ignore our country’s present-day racial inequality and threaten diversity on campuses everywhere.
— ACLU (@ACLU) August 1, 2022
Ending racist policies in college admissions would lead to racist policies in college admissions? Do they hear themselves? Do they think we don’t?
Students for Fair Admissions is suing Harvard and the University of North Carolina to prevent race from being a factor in the admissions process.
Not talking about race doesn’t erase discrimination — it ignores the ways that structural racial inequality impacts students.
— ACLU (@ACLU) August 1, 2022
Based on that, Students for Fair Admissions sounds exactly like what it’s about. The same can’t be said for the ACLU.
All students deserve equitable access to higher education.
Along with @ACLU_Mass and @ACLU_NC, we are fighting to protect academic freedom and universities’ ability to grow a diverse student body.
— ACLU (@ACLU) August 1, 2022
But the ACLU isn’t fighting for all students, are they? They’re fighting for discrimination against certain students based solely on those students’ racial backgrounds. What’s equitable about that?
Nothing. Not a damn thing.
Should universities be able to restrict the number of Jews they take in just as they restrict the number of Asians they take in? https://t.co/PHqs59IKBB

The ACLU doesn’t exactly love Jews, so we wouldn’t be surprised if they want Jews excluded, too. All in the name of equity, of course.

The @ACLU is actively promoting racism. They no longer care about equal rights for all individuals, only the rights of certain groups. This is a very dark path to start down. https://t.co/DZAPLp85Me

Unfortunately, it’s a path that the ACLU has been going down for a while now.
When did the "A" in ACLU change from "American" to "Anti-"?

They really should think about changing their name, actually.
