Much to a lot of the mainstream media’s chagrin, GOP Rep. Steve Scalise remains a strong critic of gun control, despite the attempt on his life. And we certainly can’t have that!
Fortunately, the Washington Post Fact Checker has taken it upon themselves to show us all just how wrong he is:
Fact Checker: Does a city with the "toughest gun laws" end up with "worst gun violence"? https://t.co/3h4HHcfZ2C

Here’s what Rep. Scalise said during his October 8 appearance on “Meet the Press”:
“You go to a city like Chicago, some of the toughest gun laws in the country are in the city of Chicago and yet they have the worst gun violence.”
Annnnd the verdict is: Four Pinocchios. But also, Scalise “may have a point.”
Scalise: Chicago has *some* of the toughest gun laws.
WaPo gives 4 Pinocchios bc it's not #1 toughest, concedes his broader point has merit. pic.twitter.com/UJAZ75bZR8— Elliott Schwartz (@elliosch) October 17, 2017
Couldn’t the Washington Post have, you know, at least pretended to approach their analysis of Scalise’s remarks somewhat objectively?

Kind of amazing that someone writing for WaPo doesn't know what the phrase "some of" means.

Scalise said "Chicago", the "fact checker" uses Illinois laws & stat to rebut. Chicago has additional laws besides those statewide.

Almost!
Then people wonder why fact-checking Trump had no effect. https://t.co/b84vQGMEGz
