As Twitchy told you, the prog grievance brigade is out in full force today, storming Twitter with the tiresome — and utterly asinine — #AmericaWasNeverGreat hashtag. There’s been plenty of pushback against this lefty stupidity, but we’d like to share a particularly excellent rebuttal from Heat Street writer and Federalist senior contributor Emily Zanotti:

I'm seeing "Japanese Internment" referenced on this #AmericaWasNeverGreat hashtag. Our family had a little history there, so lemme school ya

My husband's grandparents were interned. They didn't turn around and hate this country. They fought for it. In the 442nd, volunteered out…

…so if you're referencing internment know this: America makes mistakes, sure, but it's still great enough to fight for.

MY family was under siege by Nazis, forced to hide in railroad tunnels, eating dirt, starving to death. Rescued by American soldiers.

I doubt I'll see mention of how Progressives bullied Germans, sending police openly into churches, hanging effigies, during WWI

— oddhan (@oddhanfoo) July 4, 2016

.@oddhanfoo Or how Communists drove people into poverty, kept them caged line animals, killed millions:

After they were freed from the Nazis, they were living under Communism. They sold every last belonging they had to come to America.

Because no matter how bad life in America was (tenements, discrimination), it was so much better than everywhere else.

Being American has afforded these self-righteous progressives many freedoms, including the freedom to act like ungrateful jackasses. Maybe next Independence Day, they’ll remember that before they decide to throw another temper tantrum.

Hey #AmericaWasNeverGreat people: Check your American privilege.
