Nobody does compromise quite like Barack Obama.
This morning, several outlets reported that according to a Boehner aide, President Obama had a telephonic conversation with John Boehner to inform him that he would not negotiate with regard to, well, just about anything:
Obama called Boehner today to "reiterate that he won't negotiate on a government funding bill or debt limit increase," per @Brendan_Buck

BREAKING: Boehner aide says Obama called the House speaker to say he won't negotiate on shutdown or debt ceiling
— The Associated Press (@AP) October 8, 2013
Boenher spokesman says Pres Obama phoned @SpeakerBoehner to reiterate no negotiations on funding or Debt Limit bills.

To sum up this AM: Just after 10 am, Boehner emerged to plead for Obama to negotiate. W/in 45 mins, the president called Boehner to say 'no'

The White House confirmed the report:
WH confirms Obama phone call to Boehner. Says Pres "willing to negotiate with Republicans after" shutdown ended and Debt Limit raised.
— Mark Knoller (@markknoller) October 8, 2013
No shock here: Per the WH, Obama told Boehner he wouldn't negotiate, and demanded votes on a clean CR and clean debt limit extension.

“Demanded”?
"Demanded." Yeah, because presidents have that power over Congress: https://t.co/AgbCa2WpiC

That’s our POTUS! But maybe we’re being too hard on him. It looks like Barry may not be completely closed off to the idea of negotiation:

All the GOP has to do is cave and the Spite House can make this all go away. It’s easy!
So Obama, he of "it's the law, not changing it", wants us to give him everything and trust afterwards he'll be open to changing? Come on…

Needless to say, many tweeters aren’t feeling Obama’s brand of negotiation.

"Boehner aide says Obama called the House speaker to say he won't negotiate on shutdown or debt ceiling" don't we have the best president!?!

Leadership! RT @jamiedupree: WASHINGTON (AP) – Boehner aide: Obama called Boehner Tuesday, says he won't negotiate on shutdown, debt ceiling

So, Obama calls Boehner to say there will be no negotiations, but it's still our fault. Got it.

Let's be clear (TM), Obama has only reached out to Republicans to tell them that he won't negotiate. But it's the GOP shutting down gov.
