@Peston Sorry to hear that, if you have pictures we could all repost and maybe someone will spot them?

Just heartbreaking. BBC business editor Robert Peston tweeted this morning that someone broke into his house last night. Among the stolen goods were an engagement ring and wedding band belonging to his wife, who passed away in September. Peston is desperately seeking the priceless mementos and has turned to Twitter in the hopes of recovering them:
The theft of my darling late wife's 1920's engagement ring. Would be wonderful if it turned up http://t.co/QGfqea1P @BroadwayHamHigh

Whether this tactic proves fruitful remains to be seen, but Twitterers hearts are aching for Peston and sending heartfelt wishes and prayers that the rings will be returned:

@Peston I so hope you get these back, there's clearly a huge amount of support out there for you, a very sad thing to have happened.

@Peston so sorry to hear this, Robert. Nobody should have to lose their wife so young, let alone have her possessions stolen.
— John Redmond (@JohnRed333) December 20, 2012
Best Christmas present @Peston could get this year is return of rings that are a bond with his late wife. So hope there's a happy ending.

As do we. Here’s hoping for a Christmas miracle that will bring the rings back to him.
