The Supreme Court may be handing down rulings today, but they’re not the only ones.
The Washington Post’s Max Boot is issuing some rulings of his own, and they’re to be taken just as seriously as anything SCOTUS says.
Like this one, for example:
Opinion by Max Boot: Ukraine needs Western warplanes and Western volunteers to fly them. https://t.co/cfqHOBV9qi

So let it be written, so let it be done!

We’re being facetious, of course. Max Boot’s columns are as consequential as … well, as Jennifer Rubin’s columns. Which is to say that the only thing they’re actually good for is birdcage liner and comedic material. Especially the latter, because Max is being 110% serious when he says that “Western volunteers” should be flying “Western warplanes” for Ukraine.
Don’t worry about depleting our stockpiles; we can always produce more later. And don’t worry about provoking Putin; nothing would be more provocative than a Ukrainian defeat. We have a strategic and moral imperative to step up NOW to help Ukraine prevail. https://t.co/L6LPYGTfGq

Calling to help equip the Ukrainian military with “Western” artillery is one thing. But calling for “Western” volunteers to use that artillery against Russia is quite another.
One small step away from "we need American trained military" to fly them. https://t.co/XDzWajGKZT

That does seem to be what Max Boot is calling for.
If Boot is serious about this, he’s more than free to volunteer his own services, which are no doubt of tremendous value.
I nominate @MaxBoot to fund this venture and fly the planes. Better get busy, Max!

There’s not a moment to waste!
What a generous offer by @MaxBoot to volunteer himself.
I wish him luck.

Max Boot is nothing if not stunning and brave.
He’s free to volunteer.

“I need to borrow your car and I also need you to drive”. That’s just asking a for a ride with extra steps.
— Carlos Madrigal (@TeacherMadrigal) June 13, 2022
He wants you to volunteer, that’s the issue.
— Ivan Bobrov 💫 (@Bigoodis) June 13, 2022
That’s indeed the issue. As David Harsanyi noted above, Boot stops just short of calling for the U.S. to deploy our military might in Ukraine. Boot is conflating concern for the Ukrainian people — which is entirely valid — with military involvement and escalation into full-scale world war.
You know this would be an deadly escalation in the war, but you don't care because you wouldn't be the one flying those warplanes

You go right on ahead, Max. We’ll stay here and cheer you on.
