Go ahead and put Mr. Sulu himself, George Takei, firmly in the Pro-Critical-Race-Theory Club:
Is it wrong to teach about the Japanese American internment now? Because I’ve spent my whole life telling our story, and I’ll be damned if I’ll let some fool at a school board meeting refuse to let their kids hear about what happened to us.
The truth, people. Teach the truth.

And we’ll be damned if George Takei can point to a single, concrete example of a parent raging about their kid being taught about Japanese American internment. Where is he getting this stuff?
Are their parents at school board meetings complaining about internment camps being covered in history class or could this old rich guy possibly be out of touch with the populace? Impossible to say https://t.co/r9pEyBuVyB

Who has demanded schools not teach any history about slavery or Japanese internment? I'd love to see the evidence.
This is such a straw man argument. https://t.co/hWvnrNnlbq

Weird that George Takei conflates being against Critical Race Theory with historical revisionism. If anything, Critical Race Theory promotes historical revisionism (see Nikole Hannah-Jones and the “1619 Project,” for starters). Opposing Critical Race Theory means opposing false race-driven narratives, not erasing history.
No one is suggesting not teaching about slavery or Japanese internment camps or the trail of tears. Parents just don’t want their kids to be taught that skin color defines us or that we should have guilt about our skin color.

If you think that the Anti-CRT backlash is about this, then YOU are fool. It's now about teach historical fact; it's about HOW historical fact is taught. Your ignorance on the issue astounds me. https://t.co/Fp3YiQlhf4

We’re certainly in favor of educating people about the horror of Japanese American internment. And not to be rude, but it seems that George Takei himself could benefit from a refresher course. He appears to have forgotten a very important detail:
CRT is not the truth.
Why do you keep supporting the party that put Japanese Americans in camps? https://t.co/TFD1h9h8FA

That’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it?
