I keep waiting for the moment when Michigan voters finally notice the gap between the smiling photos and the actual record.
Abdul El-Sayed stood on a stage in Detroit with Barack Obama and Jocelyn Benson, arms raised, looking every bit the fresh face of change. The pictures make a nice little campaign package. What they do not show is the candidate who spent months scrubbing old videos, dodging straight questions about his associations, and treating any inquiry into his past statements as an insult.
And OH YEAH, his lies about his connections to the Muslim Brotherhood.
Obama showed up to say El-Sayed would finish the job on healthcare and put money in people’s pockets. That is the same Obama whose signature achievement El-Sayed once dismissed as incremental. Now the two of them are best friends on stage, and the audience is supposed to treat the reconciliation as proof that none of the earlier criticism mattered.
It is a familiar trick.
When the candidate’s history is inconvenient, bring out the popular former president and hope the cheering drowns out the deleted posts, the town-hall tantrums, and the refusal to draw clear lines with the people and rhetoric that keep raising alarms.

I have watched this pattern for weeks. Ask about a specific comment or a specific ally, and the response is that the question is not serious, that it is a distraction, that the real issue is gas prices or the system that created Mike Rogers. The photos from the rally do not change any of that. They just give the campaign something glossy to post while the underlying problems stay exactly where they were.
Voters in Michigan have already seen what happens when a candidate treats accountability as optional. The smiling stage shots do not erase the pattern. They just make it more obvious once the cheering stops.
