I’ve been covering blue-state meltdowns for years, but this one seems special. Fresh IRS numbers from 2022-2024 show that New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s policies aren’t just unpopular—they’re actively emptying the state.
And it's not just faceless, evil billionaires fleeing because 'they don't want to pay their fair share.' No no.
This is an exodus with a much broader and bigger crowd is bailing, and I can only imagine anyone living under the socialist nightmare, Zohran Mamdani, who isn't completely moronic, is also plotting a way out of the state.
Hochul has got to be panicking; if too many people leave, Democrats could lose even more seats in the House.
Womp womp womp.
Look at these numbers:

Between 2020-2024, 892 companies escaped from New York - along with $47 BILLION in income with them.

But guess what - it's no longer just billionaires. We're talking about middle-class professionals, small business owners, and families desperate to flee the taxes, regulations and unsafe state.

Well.... they did.
Indeed. And who could blame them?
And yes, Hochul once sneered at the complainers and basically told them to hop a bus and get out.
Well, they listened—only they didn’t stop at the city limits. They kept going until they hit states that don’t treat success like a crime. Now the Empire State is watching its tax base evaporate while the folks who stayed behind get stuck with the tab for all the progressive experiments that drove everyone else away.
Hey, at least UHaul is making a killing.
