I've been working since I was 15 years old and I am conceited enough not to tell you how long ago that was but IT WAS A LONG TIME AGO. Ahem. My first job was at Long John Silver's, and I loved it because I was young, $4.25 an hour seemed like a fortune, and a lot of my friends worked there. Not to mention I knew how important it was to have my own money, even at that young age.
Oddly enough, I never assumed the government would take care of me, house me, and feed me. It never occurred to me that anyone other than my family or myself would be responsible for such things.
So when I hear people who are clearly more than capable of working complaining about having to work 80 hours A MONTH to qualify for food stamps it just infuriates me.
At 15, I was working at least that every month while going to school but this grown woman (who has clearly not missed a meal) can't handle it?
PUH-LEASE.

'I don't think it's fair,' she says. Well, I don't think it's fair that I have to pay for their food stamps when they are more than capable of taking care of themselves. Funny how I'm supposedly the greedy one for wanting to keep more of what I earn, not the people who expect me to foot the bill for their basic needs.
Even during the holidays.
