It's one thing to put together a website to fact-check certain talking points floating around about a candidate, it's quite another to put one together that reads a bit like a parody ... and not a funny parody at that. More mean-spirited and flippant.
Vivek Ramaswamy has released a fact-check site and the reviews are not great.
Full disclosure, I watched Vivek during the GOP Debates and while he was definitely the most animated one on that stage, he felt a little bit like a gameshow host to me. I wanted to tell him there is only one Trump, and no matter how hard he tried to be Trump on that stage (and it felt like he wanted to be Trump), it didn't work.
And it's obvious now that Nikki Haley and others got under his skin a little - otherwise, why put together such a bizarre site?
The new Vivek fact-check website feels like parody.

To rebut the point about VR ending aid for Israel, they write “Keep lying, Namrata Randhawa!” - not sure why using Nikki Haley’s maiden name (spelled wrong) is a rebuttal.
But makes clear her debate attacks got under his skin. pic.twitter.com/FEGcp6NccY
Really strange response. And he spelled it wrong? I don't get this. Does he somehow think this will get under her skin?
They have one titled “Vivek is a 9/11 Conspiracy Theorist!”

Then they go right into “he speaks candidly when asked: the U.S. government absolutely did not tell us the entire truth about 9/11.” pic.twitter.com/8222Vazi3u
So you know, they didn't actually fact-check that claim because well, he said it.
But hey, he speaks candidly so we should be ok with that. Or something.
The defense of Viveks support for a death tax is “Vivek is an intellectual, not a partisan hack, so he explores ideas. Well, sue him for it.”

A fascinating exercise in crisis communication. pic.twitter.com/LhqVR3OUAl
Fascinating is not the word I'd use but ... it works.
And not in a good way.
Trump's candid responses, his digs, and his showmanship work for him. Vivek really needs to find his own schtick. Truth be told, his parody site reads a little bit like one of our Twitchy editors wrote it, which is great for Twitchy (that's what WE DO), but maybe not so great for a guy who wants to be president.
Just my humble opinion.
