C’mon, you all knew I’d write about my corgis, right?
Queen Elizabeth passed away peacefully today surrounded by her family at the glorious age of 96, and to be completely honest, I am far more upset about it than I thought I would be. We all knew the Queen would eventually pass away but now that it’s happened I just feel … empty. Weird, right? It’s not like she was MY Queen, but it’s like she’s always been around, you know? I’m proudly GenX, and she’s been a part of my generation’s culture, pop art, and expressionism for decades. But beyond all of that, what really hits home most of all for me is my corgi-bestie is gone.
True story.
Now, I’m not a complete mental case, I know she didn’t know about me and my corgis (Casper and Trixie), but in my mind, we were sort of connected in this way. My husband would often joke about how if the corgis were good enough for the Queen of England, they were good enough for me.
And I have always liked to think about her with her corgis, that we were similar in our love for these mouthy, fluffy loaves of bread, knowing they had their own room and were treated almost as royalty themselves. Casper and Trixie sort of have their own rooms (our rooms are their rooms, just like our blankets are their blankets, our food is their food, etc., etc.), and oh yeah, they are definitely treated as royalty. FOO royalty? Not to mention I am always tweeting about them; I think it’s safe to say many people who read and follow me don’t follow for the political hot takes, they follow for the stories about the dogs.
Guess what Casper did today?
YOU GUYS, TRIXIE IS CHASING SQUIRRELS NOW!
Look at this picture! Seriously, look at it. Look at those faces … how can you not just LOVE them?
It’s funny, writing about my dogs, especially when my teenage daughter has been trying to convince me to write about them for years now. She seems to think you will all want to read about the dogs, but I’m not so sure.
This seemed the perfect opportunity to share them with you, dear VIP reader, while sending my love and admiration to Queen Elizabeth and her family.
I am watching LIVE Coverage on CBS News London and they Mentioned The Queen's Corgis and I Thought of You and also wondered what they looked like and was fixin' to Google then I saw your Post! 😀#RoyalCorgis

Funny how many people are sending me tweets about her dogs … almost like we’re still besties.
In my head, yeah yeah, I get it.
I miss Lilibet and I know her corgis miss her too.
