Orange you glad you aren't involved? Wife of former Syracuse coach to sue ESPN for libel

Laurie Fine, the wife of dismissed Syracuse Orange basketball coach Barry Fine, will announce this morning that she intends to sue ESPN, reporter Mark Schwarz, and producer Art Berko for libel.

If you watched television for 30 seconds last fall, you’ll recall that Barry Fine was fired from his long-time position of assistant men’s basketball coach after three men accused him of molesting them nine years ago.

The suit claims that ESPN, Schwarz, and Berko

“spitefully destroyed Laurie Fine’s reputation in an attempt to capitalize financially in the wake of the Penn State sex abuse scandal.”

The lawsuit also says that accuser Bobby Davis regularly tricked the Fines into giving him money.

Now this is going to be everywhere. Way to ruin TV again, Fine family.
