'Thanks, Hercules': Stuck on a snowy runway or stranded at an airport? You're not alone [photos]

Snowstorm Hercules is wreaking havoc across the Midwest and East Coast. Officials canceled thousands of flights, leaving passengers stranded on runways and stuck in airports.

Sitting on the runway at JFK for over an hour after 15-hr flight from Hong Kong. Snow is making it hard to get to the gate.

Still stuck on the runway. Thanks @SouthwestAir. This should be illegal.

Trapped thanks to #hercules. Should I head to the airport to stand by, or book another day in my hotel and wait out the storm? @united

Just looked up Midway Airport on Twitter. LOTS of people stuck overnight, having the same awful experience I had today. Do better, Midway

Nothing like being stuck in a plane, on the runway, for 2 hours, late at night, with 2 kids, to make me thankful for multiple electronics.
