Introducing his interview with Bill Burton, the Priorities USA strategist behind the ad linking Mitt Romney to a woman’s cancer death, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer pulled no punches, calling the spot “inaccurate” straight out of the box.

Burton, though, wasn’t about to surrender to CNN’s team of fact checkers, saying he “absolutely” stands by the spot.

And why not stand by it? What “fact” is wrong exactly?

Great exchange on the dubious team obama ad: Wolf: the ad is misleading. Bill Burton: that's your opinion. Wolf: that's everyone's opinion.

President Obama earlier this year revealed the biggest mistake of his first term was not telling enough stories, and Priorities USA has apparently taken notice. “The point of this ad is to tell the story of one guy … and the impact [of the layoff] on his life,” Burton explained. “We’re not saying Mitt Romney’s culpable for that.” When Blitzer suggested the impression is certainly there, Burton replied, “I just don’t think that’s true,” adding, “It’s clearly lost on some folks, make no mistake about that.”

Blitzer did suggest that there are people as well who might credit Bain Capital successes like Staples and Sports Authority for saving their health insurance — thereby outing himself as a raving Romney fanboy and CNN as a right-wing network.
CNN just spewing Romney attack ad points against Bill Burton. Wow, CNN CNN is completely a right wing network.

Others found Blitzer and team’s grilling rather thorough.
CNN/Bill Burton grilling was a tougher interview than pretty much any sit-down either presidential candidate has done in a month

Burton confirmed that the ad hasn’t yet been broadcast but has been shipped and should air this weekend in battleground states.
