According to early returns in Georgia’s U.S. Senate race, Republican David Perdue is leading Democrat Michelle Nunn by a substantial margin. Although the gap surely will narrow once votes in Democrat-rich precincts in Atlanta are counted, CBS News has predicted that Perdue will retain his lead. Not only that, but they are forecasting that he will secure enough votes (50 percent or more of the total votes cast) to avoid a runoff.
