Sabrina Brady, whose heartwarming and emotional doodle is featured on the Google homepage today, won the 2013 U.S. Doodle 4 Google competition with her “Coming Home” illustration. She is a twelfth-grade student in Sparta, Wisconsin.

Sabrina’s doodle stood out in the crowd; it tells the story of her reunion with her father as he returned from an 18 month deployment in Iraq. Her creative use of the Google letters to illustrate this heartfelt moment clearly resonated with voters across the country and all of us at Google.

In addition to seeing her artwork on the Google homepage, Sabrina—who is in 12th grade at Sparta High School—will receive a $30,000 college scholarship, a Chromebook computer and a $50,000 technology grant for her school.

We’ve taken Google to task before, but this time, the company got it right. Thank you, Sabrina!
