Here's what the House's just passed $15 billion rescission package means for spending cuts

The House of Representatives passed a $15 billion rescission package on Thursday night.

The goal of it is to eliminate a large amount of wasteful spending from what has been already allocated. Speaker Paul Ryan calls it the largest such package in history.

The package and vote were requested by President Trump.

Conservatives are hailing the passage of this measure as a win for cutting unnecessary spending and returning excess funds to the Treasury.

The vote was narrow with 19 Republicans opposing the bill.

Democrats, on the other hand, did not find the bill’s passage to be cause for celebration.

This is what the president preemptively tweeted about the vote on Tuesday.

We will probably be hearing from him again shortly regarding this vote.
