Mark Hamill, the star of the mostly-white “Star Wars” movie franchise, cheered on white director James Mangold, who is set to direct the latest installment of the mostly-white “Indiana Jones” movie franchise, for boycotting Georgia over the state’s new voting law:
ABSOLUTELY! ???????????#NoMoreFilmingInGeogia https://t.co/VsKLEkXhEf

Sorry, Mark. Spell or spell not, there is not try:

And is it too much to ask that the Hollywood elite maybe know what’s in the bill before calling for the economic destruction of one of the state’s premier industries?
Here’s Stephen Fowler from NPR’s Georga affiliate with a much-needed explanation of what’s really going on. In summary, libs need to chill out:
Anyway – Things in this law that Georgia voters should be most aware of/concerned about:
-shorter absentee request window/earlier deadline
-need DL #/state ID # to apply for absentee
-virtually no out-of-precinct provisionals (visit right E-day poll)
-shortened runoff https://t.co/SR42bFuxuw— stephen fowler (@stphnfwlr) March 28, 2021
And now for the good:
Things in Georgia's new law that *should* make things smoother:
-more staff/equipment or split up big precincts with long lines
-earlier absentee processing
-more early voting access for most counties
-dropboxes still exist (though access is pared back)https://t.co/0kXWI3moX4— stephen fowler (@stphnfwlr) March 28, 2021
These provisions are TBD:
Things that might be better but might also suck for local officials to oversee/do:
-count ballots nonstop, finish by 5PM day after election
-flexibility with equipment allocation
-scanned ballot images are public record
-better trained poll watchershttps://t.co/0kXWI3moX4— stephen fowler (@stphnfwlr) March 28, 2021
Oh, and one of the major issues we’re reading about after powers were stripped from the Secretary of State? It’s “Not true!” that it gives “officials the power to overturn elections if they do not like the results” and “Nobody can overturn anything!”:
No! Not true! Nobody can overturn anything!
If, after a long, drawn-out hearing process the State Election Board finds a local election board has violated numerous laws+done things wrong, they can temporarily suspend and replace them.
Stop this!https://t.co/0nBIyJzPGW https://t.co/V1UBNkozn0

Local elections boards do a lot of things —like yes, certify election results — but a temporary superintendent can’t necessarily invent new results, and the legislature isn’t involved in this process.
Don’t fall for conspiracies on the other side of the aisle folks.

And it looks like Trump-nemesis Gov. Brian Kemp gets to pick the first one:
Something in this law that’s pure retribution and probably a bad idea: removing SOS as chair of election board.
Something law also does: narrows eligibility for who can be new chair in a way that likely avoids having a rabid partisan.
Also, Kemp prob picks the first one FWIW. https://t.co/3qRl7dTOAb pic.twitter.com/jkc7EDrFya

Any chance that either Hamill or Mangold knows this?
