We’re starting to see responses from some of the top Dems contacted by Mark Halperin for his new book and, so far, it’s pretty pitiful:
The “oh god everyone found out I’m sorry I talked to mark ‘I put my dick on random women’ Halperin” apology tours are going to be nearly as galling as the mark “no really I’m so shitty I will literally put my peen on women I work with” Halperin rehab tour

First up is Donna Brazile who admitted that she knew talking to Halperin would be problematic and she did it anyway:
We condemned it. Stood by the women. He was fired and disgraced. I chose to be interviewed for this project knowing that some of my friends would dislike it.

But former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm took a different route. She claimed that she didn’t do enough research:
Spoke with him by phone once about how to defeat Trump in the Midwest. Did not mean to hurt anyone, ever; should have done more research. My sincere apologies. @GretchenCarlson

Oh really? She called Halperin out by name in 2017 and compared him to Harvey Weinstein, but she didn’t do enough research on him?
Charlie Rose. Glen Thrush. Al Franken. Donald Trump. Roy Moore. Mark Halperin. Harvey Weinstein.Bill Clinton. George H.W. Bush. Kevin Spacey. Louis C.K. Bill O’Reilly. And so many more.

David Axelrod minimized his contribution to the overall effort and apologized:
To those who have asked, I have known Mark Halperin as a reporter for 25 years. He emailed me three questions about the 2020 race for a book he was writing and I replied in a few sentences, without giving enough thought to how my participation would be used or interpreted.

By answering Halperin’s questions, I did not in any way mean to excuse his past, egregious behavior and, in retrospect, I regret responding at all.

Three down and 72+ more responses to go. If this is any indication, these Dem strategists are in for a world of pain:
He didn’t tell you – you were participating in a book? Also it doesn’t matter how long you’ve known someone when they’re accused of annihilating women. Thanks https://t.co/w0mFASUFxM
