Here's how the April Ryan--Lynne Patton 'Miss Piggy' Twitter war started (Ryan threw the first punch)

There was a MAJOR blow-up on Twitter last night between White House reporter April D. Ryan and Lynne Patton, a former official at the Eric Trump member and currently the head of Region II at the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

TL;DR version: Patton called Ryan “Miss Piggy” in a now-deleted tweet after hours of back and forth insults between the two. It’s the TL;DR version that you’ll hear most about today:

Patton later apologized, saying “I deleted my last tweet by choice. No one from this Administration contacted me. It was beneath me & I apologize to @AprilDRyan. My parents raised me to respect others & I regret my response. I apologize to them, @SecretaryCarson & the Trump family. They deserved better.”

Now, what actually happened between the two is more complicated, and neither one comes out a winner.

The back and forth actually starting on January 23 after Ryan called Patton a “fruit loop”:

Basically Ryan was responding to Patton who was responding to something Ryan said on CNN regarding death threats:

Patton’s point was that she gets death threats, too — a lot of them — and that it’s not just happening to the media:

It’s this line that Ryan reacted to when she called Patton a “fruit loop”:
