There was a MAJOR blow-up on Twitter last night between White House reporter April D. Ryan and Lynne Patton, a former official at the Eric Trump member and currently the head of Region II at the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
TL;DR version: Patton called Ryan “Miss Piggy” in a now-deleted tweet after hours of back and forth insults between the two. It’s the TL;DR version that you’ll hear most about today:
Top Trump Housing official attacks April Ryan as "Miss Piggy" in since-deleted tweet https://t.co/jsJTL1SSZw pic.twitter.com/QMOg8EgPgC

For example, tweets like this:
Wow. Where are the Trump supporters who expressed outrage at questions over his weight? https://t.co/wOK4xYeMMn
— Maggie Haberman (@maggieNYT) January 25, 2018
Patton later apologized, saying “I deleted my last tweet by choice. No one from this Administration contacted me. It was beneath me & I apologize to @AprilDRyan. My parents raised me to respect others & I regret my response. I apologize to them, @SecretaryCarson & the Trump family. They deserved better.”

Now, what actually happened between the two is more complicated, and neither one comes out a winner.
The back and forth actually starting on January 23 after Ryan called Patton a “fruit loop”:

Basically Ryan was responding to Patton who was responding to something Ryan said on CNN regarding death threats:
Media: "There has been a war on the press by the @WhiteHouse led by @realDonaldTrump … I've talked to other reporters, we've gotten death threats." @AprilDRyan to @brianstelter on @ReliableSources @CNN pic.twitter.com/bSqOhQOQqG

Patton’s point was that she gets death threats, too — a lot of them — and that it’s not just happening to the media:
As a conservative black female who has publicly worked for & supported @realDonaldTrump, I’ve been getting death threats from fellow minorities on the left for the past 3 years – so welcome to the club, @AprilDRyan. pic.twitter.com/0EeG9pBesy

But the problem April should not be receiving any death threats. They're not deserved.

It’s this line that Ryan reacted to when she called Patton a “fruit loop”:
Um, NO ONE should be. But the fact that you only instinctively defend @AprilDRyan is the actual problem, but thank you for your concern. ?
Ryan followed up with, “and who are you?”:
@LynnePatton and who are you?

And because everyone here is an adult [where’s the sarcasm font when we need it?], these two then traded insults with videos and .GIFs:

You are not revelant and so desire to be. Snoop may not be pleased with your use of him. He thinks your kind is wack. This one is for you! https://t.co/DB5jBxTBgK https://t.co/vTAa8gkp25

Fake info girl! Check your facts. I work for American Urban Radio Networks not Sheridan! Whose wedding are you planning now and what wig company do you work for? https://t.co/YtfF4QHzy5

Thanks for the support. For the record I don’t know this woman @LynnePattonHUD and don’t know why my name is in her mouth. Since she started targeting me yesterday over my death threats I have found out.
— AprilDRyan (@AprilDRyan) January 25, 2018
Umm @LynnePattonHUD since when did I go bankrupt? Tell me cause I want to know. I find it fascinating you and your girl @Omarosa45 are concerned with my money when yours is questionable. Hmm! I can show my taxes. Can you?

@LynnePattonHUD Sheridan Broadcasting a heritage netowork closed its doors. I work for American Urban radio networks as a news person, White House Correspondent who also has a podcast. And I have never filed for bankruptcy. Have you? Stop spreading lies. U r #fakenews
— AprilDRyan (@AprilDRyan) January 25, 2018
@LynnePattonHUD you are #fakenews.

And that’s where we are this morning.
Embarrassing for both parties, no? Grow. Up.
