Meryl Streep was honored with the Cecil B. Demille Award at tonight’s Golden Globe awards and would you believe she got a tad political. OK … it was a lot political, with a ton of shots at President-elect Donald Trump.
Here she is lamenting a Trump-induced, foreigner-free future where — GASP! — the only entertainment available in America will be football and Mixed Martial Arts (which isn’t real art, she says):
#Hollywood is crawling with foreigners and if we kick them out we are left to watch football and mixed martial arts. – #MerylStreep

She got some other dings in on Trump as well. Here she is going after the future president for his alleged mocking of a disabled reporter during the campaign:

"Disrespect invites disrespect, violence incites violence". Well said, #MerylStreep, well said. #GoldenGlobes

She ended with this quote from the late Carrie Fisher:
“Take your broken heart, make it into art.” – Carrie Fisher via Meryl Streep
