Report: Hungary detains 6 after discovering explosive-laden car, 'bomb lab'

Another day, another terror threat in Europe. This time it’s Hungary where there’s a report out that four individuals have been detained after explosives were found in their car as the group traveled to the capital with a subsequent “house search” turning up a “bomb-making laboratory”:

An additional two suspects were arrested with “submachine guns, ammunition and silencers in their car,” but it’s not known if the two groups are related.

Hungarian authorities have yet to give specifics on any of the 6 individuals and we do not know yet if this was a jihadist threat or not:

Security has been tightened for senior officials entitled to “top protection”, the Counter Terrorism Centre said in a statement.

The center’s director general, Janos Hajdu, said the suspects had been detained last week as police stepped up investigations that touched on the security of these officials, whom he declined to name.

[…]

Asked whether the suspects had jihadist links, he said: “Let me reply to that in the next few days.”

Hajdu declined to disclose the suspects’ identities, nationalities or presumed motives, but added that the case had an international dimension.

More information, please.
