Former Olympian (and former Bruce) Caitlyn Jenner won the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at last night’s ESPN “ESPY” awards show in Los Angeles, Calif., talking about the need to “respect” the trans community:

— Amanda Wills (@AmandaWills) July 16, 2015
And while receiving the award for “courage,” Jenner also talked fashion, hoping the E! channel show that comments on how celebrities dress, “Fashion Police,” would be kind:
"The 'Fashion Police'–please be kind to me, I'm new at this." — Caitlyn Jenner #ESPYS

Because nothing defines a woman like a designer dress?
Apparently not. Jenner won praise for wearing a Versace gown:
Congratulations to @Caitlyn_Jenner who looked amazing in Atelier Versace this evening at the #ESPYS pic.twitter.com/5cOcXcvrqA

Didn't watch the ESPYs, but did see that Jenner's speech about trans issues was reduced to news items of her gown. pic.twitter.com/w3UzjaVenx

Why talking about the Versace Atelier dress that Caitlyn Jenner wore to the #ESPYAwards is not a trivial conversation http://t.co/bfq0OufIgk

Let’s also keep in mind that this is the same Caitlyn Jenner who was involved in a fatal car accident in February. Kim Howe, 69, was killed after Jenner rear-ended her car, sending it into oncoming traffic where it was hit head-on by a Hummer SUV. Jenner is still under investigation for the crash:
DA to decide whether to charge Jenner w/involuntary vehicular manslaughter in fatal crash. #auto #car #crime #lawsuit http://t.co/K1vPXhBJxV

This pesky detail was left out of last night’s ESPY awards show, with some wondering if Jenner should have been honored at all:
And he gets an award for courage. RIDICULOUS! #ESPYS http://t.co/Ytv5h3xaN8

And here’s a good question:

No chance. Another good one:
Kind of funny how Jenner wins an ESPY. Wonder how the family of the person he killed in that car accident feels about his courage?

We don’t know the Howe family’s reaction, but there was another driver involved in the Jenner crash and she’s not happy with Jenner’s award:
Driver Jessica Steindorff questions Caityn Jenner's ESPY award during fatal car crash investigation. http://t.co/1mOMEwahdG
— Anna Chen (@MadamMiaow) July 16, 2015
Talking to Entertainment Tonight, Steindorff said:
“I find it difficult to understand how the culture we live in can honor a person who is responsible for taking a life and injuring several others with both an award and a reality show.”
Well said.
Video of Jenner’s entire speech here:
The @ESPYS nails the Ashe Award every year. Last night with @Caitlyn_Jenner was no exception https://t.co/DV6F9wbpws

Oh, we found a few exceptions but nobody will talk about them.
