The Senate Armed Services Committee is currently holding a hearing on the Guantanamo Bay detention facility in Cuba and listening to testimony from the Defense Department’s Brian McKeon and the National Counterterrorism Center’s Nicholas Rasmussen.
And so far, Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas — a veteran of the Iraq war — has the quotes of the day where he first questions the talking point that Guantanamo is a recruiting tool for terrorist and then goes on to say those who are at Gitmo can “rot in hell”:
Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton dismisses propaganda tool argument. "They attack us for who we are."

Sen. Cotton says problem's not propaganda but there's "too many empty beds and cells" at #Gitmo, wants captives to rot there if not hell.

SenCotton says on GITMO – My problem is that there are empty beds there. Terrorists can rot in hell, but until then – rot in GITMO

Sen. Joe Manchin of WV had a pretty good line of his own when answering the protesters:
More protesters yelling at Sen hearing – "rights for GITMO detainees" – SenManchin quietly responds – they lost rights when they attacked US
