As we just told you, former Obama staffer Dan Pfeifer is already on the attack trying to link high gas prices to the Republican call to boycott purchases of oil from Russia:
Dan Pfeiffer accuses Republicans of ‘bad faith BS’ for pinning high gas prices on Dems before bravely trying — and failing — to run away https://t.co/WJ2hQBLkpn
— Twitchy Team (@TwitchyTeam) March 8, 2022
And as we told you, Pfeiffer is omitting just a tiny bit of the GOP argument. You know, the whole part about how the GOP has been pushing for decades to increase energy production at home:
The admin is refusing to produce domestic energy and everyone knows it. https://t.co/32nWxj9DJu

We expect we’ll hear a lot more of this Dem attack in the coming days, however. Here’s White House chief of staff Ron Klain retweeting Washington Post columnist Catherine Rampell who made a similar argument to Pfeifer:

Did a memo go out or something?
Everybody, Republicans & Democrats, demands that Biden ban all Russian energy imports.
Biden then does it.
Then everybody, Republicans & Democrats, better be on the same fucking page, not play politics, and not blame Biden for rising prices at the pump.
I know. I’m naive.
— Joe Walsh (@WalshFreedom) March 8, 2022
Republicans have a plan! Push Biden to cut off oil & gas imports from Russia, then blame Biden for high gas prices. Mainstream media could, and I know this is crazy, provide this context when transcribing Republican sounds-bites about high gas prices over next few months.

Rampell added in a response to Sen. Marco Rubio’s call to increase domestic energy production that it will “take many months before any ramp-up in US production today feeds thru to more available oil, regardless of regulatory environment
In the meantime, US gas prices will spike, and people like you will use higher gas prices against Dems in the midterms”:
It'll take many months before any ramp-up in US production today feeds thru to more available oil, regardless of regulatory environment
In the mean time, US gas prices will spike, and people like you will use higher gas prices against Dems in the midtermshttps://t.co/SZNpgmw4lp https://t.co/dv9KjIkKAu— Catherine Rampell (@crampell) March 8, 2022
Twitchy regular “AG” called out Rampell for this “intentionally deceptive” take on oil markets:
This is intentionally deceptive because it’s not how oil markets work. Markets don’t just react to current supply, but also potential for future supply. https://t.co/NQE8isLP5c

Unfortunately for Dems, we know exactly what they’re attempting to do and we’re not standing for it. From our colleague Katie Pavlich:
Before the narrative gets too carried away: Gas prices aren't up because the White House is banning Russian oil. They're up because Joe Biden campaigned on an energy "transition" away from oil and launched a war on domestic-U.S. production.
— Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) March 8, 2022
And here’s Ben Shapiro:
Biden cuts energy production.
Prices go up.
Ukraine war breaks out.
Prices continue to go up, but faster.
Biden blames Ukraine war, calls for more green energy, reaches out to Venezuela.— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) March 8, 2022
Here’s a tip for Dems: We’re going to hammer team Biden on refusing to expand domestic oil production:
If this move isn’t followed by Biden revoking his executive orders discouraging domestic production of O&G here at home, it’ll have no teeth. A worthless gesture if it’s followed by shifting reliance to Saudi, Iranian, or Venezuelan oil. (Just as bad as Russian oil.) https://t.co/qEZHBoGIR0
— Gabriella Hoffman (@Gabby_Hoffman) March 8, 2022
And, we expect, voters will side with Republicans come November:
Here’s how this is going to work:
(1) Biden will block Russian oil;
(2) Media will attack GOP for blaming high oil prices on Biden;
(3) GOP argument will be that we need to drill more here;
(4) Media will deflect/scream about climate;
(5) Voters will side with GOP.— Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) March 8, 2022
