Your move, Pepsi: The official Twitter account of Ukraine puts Coca-Cola on blast for reportedly refusing to halt operations in Russia

#BoycottCocaCola was trending on Friday after the Kyiv Independent reported that Coca-Cola will continue operations in Russia despite the country’s invasion of Ukraine:

The Russian-state-owned Tass news agency is reporting this as well:

From Tass:

“All operational, production, and logistics facilities of Coca-Cola in Russia are working. We are fully responsible to partners, society, and thousands of our employees in Russia. Our top priority is the safety of our employees,” the company said.

Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company AG (Coca-Cola HBC) is the leading beverage production and distribution company for the Coca-Cola Company in Europe and part of the Coca-Cola system. Coca-Cola HBC AG operates in 28 countries and serves a population of 595 million. Coca-Cola HBC Russia owns 10 plants for the production of soft drinks and juices in Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Rostov region, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk and Vladivostok.

So far, we haven’t seen a single response from Coca-Cola on any of these tweets:

Some supermarkets in Ukraine have reportedly stopped selling Coke products in response:

And others are pointing out how cowardly it is of Coca-Cola to stay silent, especially considering how vocal they were about Georgia:

“The hypocrisy of Coca-Cola,” via Erick Erickson:

Coke is going to need a new song if this keeps up:
