Baltimore Police Commissioner Kevin Davis is currently meeting with reporters to discuss the officer-involved shooting of a 14-year-old boy Wednesday afternoon.
The teen, identified as Dedric Colvin, is recovering after reportedly being shot in the shoulder and leg after he allegedly turned toward officers with what what appeared to be a gun in his hand. The gun, however, was a BB gun that looked like the real thing.
Justin Fenton of the Baltimore Sun reports live from the press conference:
Commissioner says detectives leaving intelligence meeting saw 13 yr old with basketball & what looked like a gun. He ran 100-150 yards

The officers were reportedly in street clothes and it’s not known when/if they identified themselves to the teen before he turned around:
Officers intelligence detectives in street clothes, "were not anticipating taking enforcement action." Doesnt say if/when they IDd selves

Here’s the BB gun next to a real gun. A reporter at the press conference could not tell the difference, which is the exact point Commissioner Davis was hoping to make:
Reporter asks which gun is fake, which is real. "Which do you think?" Davis says. "Indicative of tough job we have" pic.twitter.com/gHd954iYyU
